Thai Airways planes

The company’s fleet consists only of wide-body planes manufactured by Airbus and Boeing. From 2024, all narrow-body planes currently operated by subsidiary Thai Smile (to be disbanded within this year and absorbed by the main corporation) will be transferred to the fleet.

There are now 48 planes in the fleet with an average age of just over 9 years. A major modernization of the fleet is planned for the next 3 years with the addition of 12 Airbus A321neo planes and 9 A350-900 model machines.

Airbus A350-900

The wide-body, long-haul, twin-engine plane is capable of covering distances of more than 15,000 kilometers. Thai Airways uses standard cabin layouts offered by Airbus by default. Now the fleet has 14 such machines, but 9 new ones with a cabin variation for 334 passengers have been ordered for 2023. The average age is 5.8 years.

Airbus A330-300

A wide-body, twin-engine long-haul plane produced by Airbus in the mid-1970s. The airliner proved to be one of the best among long-haul airplanes and was used by several large international companies. Now there are 3 such machines with a cabin layout for 294 passengers left in the fleet. The average age of planes of this model in the fleet is 14.4 years.

Boeing 777

Boeing’s extremely popular twin-engine wide-body planes are widely used by international carriers interested in saving fuel on transoceanic flights. Thai Airways operates 6 777-200ERs (average age more than 15.4 years) and 17 777-300ERs (average age 8.4 years). Only a few 300ERs have first class seats (Royal First).

Boeing 787

Boeing’s next-generation long-range, twin-engine, wide-body plane. Thai Airways were interested in using these planes for intercontinental flights, but were limited to ordering 6 Dreamliner 8 and 2 Dreamliner 9 planes. Now the average age is 8.8 and 6.1 years respectively.
